RACING CLASSES

MOTH

The International Moth is a high-speed, development sailing class with 90 years of continuous innovation. The modern day carbon fibre foiling boats reach speeds of over 30 knots.

The Moth is the fastest one Person Dinghy in the World.

WASZP

The WASZP Class is the culmination of Andy McDougall’s expertise and passion for sailing. Designed to be fast, fun, and accessible, the WASZP has quickly become one of the most exciting classes in the sailing world. McDougall’s commitment to innovation and excellence shines through in every aspect of the WASZP, it’s usability, the safety aspect, the fun factor and a high-performance racing platform are all outcomes of Amac’s vision.

A-CLASS CATAMARAN

With its 18 feet of lenght, an allowed rig area of 150 square feet and 75 kilos of weight, the A-Class is very much a Formula One car in catamaran form and in the last few years developments have seen this class take off more than ever before, quite literally.

BIRDYFISH

Birdyfish is a concentrate of technology from racing at the service of sailing. A sum of details that together make this foil boat easy, fast and stable.

The self-regulating J-foils which, in addition to making the dinghy fly, also contribute to the righting. The physical dimension of the crew does not become a condition for taking off.

NACRA 15 FCS

Designed from scratch to the ISAF criteria to become the new official ISAF youth catamaran, the Nacra 15 resembles a lot to its bigger sister, the Olympic Nacra 17. In fact, the Nacra 15 is a mini version of the Olympic Nacra 17, creating a pathway towards the Olympics.

The Nacra 15 FCS version includes a fully foiling setup, which means it is equipped with foils that allow it to lift out of the water and “fly” in the right wind conditions. This reduces drag and significantly increases speed compared to the regular displacement sailing mode.

X-15

Starboard and FreeWing have stepped up to the plate to introduce one-design wing foil racing, the X-15 Class one-design wing foil racing featuring the latest cutting-edge equipment.

One-design racing is popular, largely because homogenous equipment inherently introduces elements of fairness. That means no decisions and no second-guessing. And the gear stays the same for longer so you don’t have to update it every year.

May the best rider win.

iQFOiL

As the chosen windsurfing class for Paris 2024 & L.A. 2028, iQFOiL ensure fair competition through our one-design approach. High-performance hydrofoil boards offer exciting races above water, while innovative technology and captivating race formats attracts enthusiasts, aiming to revive windsurfing’s vibrant presence worldwide.

WINGFOIL OPEN CLASS

The fastest growing watersport, wingfoiling drives a small hydrofoil board with an inflatable hand wing and one rider in full control. This will be the largest racing class at Foiling Week with under 15 year old racers, silver surfers and every age in between.

KITEFOIL

An Olympic class for the first time at Paris 2024, kitefoil racing is a kite-powered hydrofoil board piloted by precise and sharp riders. This is an “open” kitefoil class at Foiling Week, any kitefoiling equipment is allowed.

OPEN CLASS

The first edition of Foiling Week Pensacola will feature an interesting OPEN division of foiling monohulls and multihulls, where the following classes will race:

➜ F101

➜ FLYING PHANTOM

➜ iFLY

➜ SKEETA

FOIL SURF RACE LEAGUE

A high action foil surfing endurance race, created in 2020 by Billy Bosch and Brian Grubb, in which athletes start on the beach in a “24 Hours of Le Mans” style start, paddle into waves to cross an upstream boundary, work their way down on foil or pumping to a downstream maker point. First rider to complete designated number of laps wins the heat.

FOILFLEX MULTI-DISCIPLINARY EVENT

FoilFlex® is a sick two-day, multidiscipline event that combines all the boardsports (i.e.: SUP, Surf, Pump, Wake, etc.) into a massive party on Pensacola Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. These days allow all foilers to compete and play in the discipline best suited for the conditions of the day, together, sharing the stoke and exploring new equipment and terrain at Foiling Week.
